Pre-Kindergarten![]()
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The beginning of our daily routine includes a period of time for child initiated activity, which is known as free play.
During this time children can choose:
- Participation at teacher-planned centres.
- Play in the different learning centres
- Participate in group activities
Circle time takes place after a trip to the washroom. This is the time for language development, songs, stories, games, finger plays and discussion.
Children also enjoy gym/outdoor time and bi-weekly trips to the Library. The days will be on the calendar. One book may be signed out and then it must be returned the following week.
CLOTHING
Please send your child to Pre-k in comfortable wash and wear clothes. We do lots of activities. We do use aprons but sometimes paint sneaks its way into areas not covered. Remember accidents can happen. Rubber-sole, non-marking shoes are suggested for inside and may be left at school.
Please label all shoes and clothing.
HOURS AND FEES
Fees are due at the office at the beginning of each month. Post dated cheques are preferred. These are returned if you withdraw your child from the program.
The fee is $55.00 per month for the 2-day a week program
The fee is $75.00 per month for the 3-day a week program
The 2-day a week program runs Tuesday and Thursday from 12:50 – 2:50
The 3-day a week program runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:50 – 2:50
LIBRARY DEPOSIT AND SUPPLY FEE
Please place $10 cash in an envelope labeled clearly with your child’s name. Drop this off at the office before your child’s first library day. This is returned at the end of the year when all books are returned in good condition.
There is also a $10 supply fee payable by the end of September.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Please bring your child into the school through the Pre-Kindergarten entrance. Remove boots and shoes just inside the second set of doors and place them in a “cubby”. Please greet Mrs. Patterson or Ms. Young with your child before leaving.
Doors open at 12:45. Before that time, you may wait in the Pre-K foyer.
RELEASE OF CHILD POLICY
Parents must enter the classroom to pick up their child. We can only release children to an adult who has been previously authorized by you. Your child’s safety is our priority!
SHOW AND TELL
A list will be sent home some time in the first month telling when your child’s show and tell will be. On these days, bring one item in a bag with your child’s name on it. Children are asked to leave it in their cubby until circle time. Items that pertain to our theme or treasures found in nature are suggestions for show and tell items.
